International Day of Mother Language

Our mother tongue is always a part of us - no matter where we go! For the 22nd time, the "International Mother Language Day", which was initiated by UNESCO, is celebrated on 21 February. The aim is to preserve and promote linguistic and cultural diversity, because diversity is increasingly endangered.

Every two weeks, on average, a language goes extinct and with it, the linguistic identity of people. Today, on the International Day of Mother Language, we would like to celebrate how international Montanuniversität Leoben is. As a university, we are committed to preserving linguistic and cultural diversity and promoting internationality. Therefore, we are particularly proud to have students and staff from over 80 different nations with us. A few have agreed to participate in the following video, and we would like to thank them for their great support!
